MADDER ROOT:

“rubia tinctoria” is the latin name for the madder plant, a rambly bush whos roots carry its rich red hue. Madder root is one of the most permanent red dyes thanks to a chemical it contains known as alizarin. 

LOGWOOD CHIPS:

“logwood”  or haematoxylum campechianum is a plant from Central and South America that provides a source of rich deep purple, its latin name means bloodwood. It was used as a pH tester in the past because it goes from a deep purple in alkaline water to a reddish yellow in acidic water.  

CUTCH:

“cutch” is the common name for the  powdered natural dye extracted from the heartwood of the acacia catechu tree. It creates rich shades of copper and gold.

Just add a glass jar, a pot, and a spoon! If using a tie dye method, all dyeing can be done in a glass jar if you're not able to find a separate pot for dyeing.

Do not share dye utensils with kitchen utensils. 

Each kit includes enough dye for another small silk item! Throw in an extra silk scarf for double the fun.
